Izet Mexhiti was born on February 8, 1977, in Skopje.
He finished the High School “Zef Lush Marku” in Skopje.
He has completed his undergraduate studies at St. Cyril and Methodius University, Faculty of Economics, Branch of Financial Management and Accounting.
The title “Master of Economic Sciences” he got in 2018 with the topic “Contemporary Challenges of Local
Economic Development – Case Study Municipality of Cair” which also was held at St. Cyril and
Methodius University, Faculty of Economics, Branch Of Financial Management and Accounting.
His professional experience began as a professor of economics at High School “Arseni Jovkov” during 2001-2003. He then continued as an economic associate at the Macedonian Post until 2005.
During and after the studies, Izet Mexhiti actively participates in the civil sector with youth organizations and initiatives.
In 2005 he ran and was elected mayor of the municipality of Cair, which task he would do very successfully for three consecutive terms, mandates that were characterized by deep victories over the counter-candidate.
As mayor of the municipality of Cair during the three mandates, he is distinguished by starting and ending many initiatives in the interest of the citizens, starting from municipal infrastructure, roads, lighting, and with the support of many cultural events in Skopje.
From the position of mayor of the Municipality of Cair, he was also elected vice president of ZELS in 2009, a task he successfully did for a mandate.
In 2020 Izet Mexhiti runs for deputy in the 1st constituency where he received the mandate of deputy.
Since the constitution of the Parliament, Izet Mexhiti is elected coordinator of the DUI parliamentary group, a position from which he resigns on 8 March 2021, for principle reasons.

He began with political activity since the establishment of the Democratic Union for Integration party,
where he was later elected as the first chairman of the youth forum – branch Center.
In the Congress of December 2009, otherwise the only DUI congress where it was voted for members of the central leadership, Izet Mexhiti was the most voted and assumed the position of vice president of DUI, the task he did until July 17, 2023, when he publicly submitted his resignation, and he announced
the new political subject on the political scene in the Republic of Macedonia, Democratic Movement.
From August 13, 2023, the founding assembly of the Democratic Movement elected him as President.
Together with deputy Merita Koxhaxhiku and Kasteiot Rexhepi, he is part of the deputies of the Democratic Movement in the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia.
